abstract. We present an original method of preparation of nanostructured Ti sic compound based on high energy ball milling and reactive sintering techniques. starting materials are ti, si, and elements. x-ray diffraction and secondary electron microscopy are used to identify the formed phases and to analyze the obtained microstructures.sio x-based anodes have attracted tremendous attention owing to their low cost, higher theoretical capacity than graphite and lower volume expansion than pure silicon.in this work, a simple and cost-effective two-step ball-milling method was proposed to fabricate sisio composites by using commercial sio and graphite carbon as raw materials. the two-step ball-milling synthesis of the Si for instance, high energy ball milling is a top-down method using planetary ball mills. To obtain optimized milling parameters in a planetary ball mill, many trials are needed. hence optimization of the milling parameters through modeling tools is necessary to reach economically efficient and time-saving synthesis of nano-fertilizers.
